- one laundry room flood; new pipes were required to fix it
- one bathroom sink leak; fixed with a new washer
- a backyard full of what we think are dew worms (making it all lumpy and yucky)
- someone break into our truck out front of the new home (only stole a couple cables no big deal)
AND
just got rear-ended in said truck last Tuesday.
*sigh*
So... you could say it's been a bit of a challenge.
Being a home owner is waaayyyy more work than renting and well just kind of stressful all the time. I feel like we will be fixing things in this home forever! (there is more to the story here but until lawyers settle it I cannot discuss it).
But screw all that, let's talk about stitching!
I've got the baby piece I was working on complete! And have started the 'un-shareable' piece as well. But I have a smaller piece on the go that I will share in the next week or so that is my "break" piece from the 'cant show you' one; so there will still be updates to come.
I'm hoping things start to become less crazy and a little more manageable. We will see.
Here is the baby piece. I signicantly changed this piece to fit the size I wanted and put in the motifs I wanted as well. But love the way it has turned out. Colors were all chosen based on earth palette and what I had available in stash. It's on a 28ct Cashel Antique Linen. I'll be framing it here soon and sending it off to the baby it belongs to (who just turned 1, gah bad). I'm glad to see it done up and can't wait to get it in the mail off to baby.
(name is obscured for privacy sake).
Thanks for visiting! Hopefully I will have some new, better stories in the next couple months!

Very cute baby piece! Great finish.
Great stitching...it's cute!
And good luck on the home event!
Surely all in your house can only go smoothly from now on. What an annoying month you have had. Your baby piece is gorgeous!
Lot of challenges there... the stitching is very nice!
So sweet x
Phew! It sounds like you've been having quite the month, I hope things calm down for you soon. Such a lovely finish, I look forward to seeing what you'll be stitching up next :)
Best wishes.
I am feeling you completely on the home owner thing! I hope things even out for you there soon.
Meanwhile your stitching looks fabulous! The baby piece is really sweet.
The baby sampler is very cute. Great job.
And I'm sorry you've had some many problems lately! Hopefully you've burned through all your bad luck for the year.
Welcome to homeownership, Mel. There's always *something* needing fixing. Just the other day, I had to fix the outside faucet because it was leaking. Boo. With that said, I'm much happier being a homeowner than renter. I hope you will be, too.
Congrats on the sampler finish. It turned out very cute.
This baby sampler is just so cute. I love it.
So sorry to hear that you're having a run of such bad luck lately, but glad to hear that there's been no serious damage. Hopefully things will turn around soon! Home ownership is indeed a HUGE commitment, I've watched friends and family go through it. Best of luck! The sampler is so cute, I'm sure it will be much loved - it's a nice design to grow up with :)
I have just come across to your blog after seeing your July cottage on the cottage SAL blog. I really love the changes you made. I am about to start it too and wanted to alter a few things so that it didn't look american as I am British. I will be going with your idea of a simple white house too, I think. Thank you for the inspiration.
Very cute baby piece. I am sure the mother will love it! I hope the house issues resolve themselves soon.

I really love the baby sampler. Why is it when one thing goes wrong everything else does too?

I am getting ready to start working on a baby piece myself.
