A job!! - Stitch from Stash 2014 Idea

Well it's been a 4 week road, but I just finished my second week at a new job.
Thank you to everyone who commented and sent me their support during this transition time.
Ironically I think it will work out for the best, just like so many of you told me! :)

So what's the new job?
It's for the Alberta government. I'm quite pleased to secure this position, it was at the top of my list. It has great benefits and flex days; however the pay is (of course) much lower than working directly in industry as I was before. But, we're working through that on the budget level and luckily we didn't purchase a home back in April that was at the brink of our affordability. Thank goodness!

So you wanna know what I really do all day?
I sit at a computer and review energy applications for development and ask questions of applicants, submit closures (for incorrect info) and submit approvals to the "signatures" department. It's what I used to do but just on the other side, instead of making the applications I know approve them.
I think it's a great fit for me as it's a way less stressful environment, government jobs are often immune to layoffs when industry slows down, and I work overall less hours because of flex time and such.

I'm quite pleased to have obtained this job, but will also be starting a "stitch from stash" year in 2014 to make sure I try to keep the spending down.
I wonder if there is a group I can join like that or I should start my own?
Any thoughts??

So happy you have a job. I think I need to stitch from stash as I have enough for at least 3 lifetimes .

Glad that you like your new job. My new year is to stitch on my UFOs. Each month I pull a different one out. Some are quick ones that I can finish in a weekend.

Congratulations :)
It took me almost a year before my job finally started clicking for me. I'm glad for that because I usually give jobs a year before I start actively looking for a new one!

Hrmmm stitching from stash, that's something I should be doing too... except designers keep on releasing too many pretty designs... ;_;

Although now that I think about it, with all the sals I've signed up to, I WILL be stitching from my stash!

Congrats on the job.
I have several UFO's to get back into next year so I'm planning to stitch mostly from my stash.

I am glad to hear you like your new job! As far as starting a group that would be focused on stitching from current stash, I'd join!

Where did I hear that before? UK's government/council jobs used to be one of the secure ones too ... until the cuts came.

But I am very pleased for you ... I have (if I am allowed to count the charts without floss) a lifetime full of stitching stash ... in the form of HAED charts. If not counting charts probably 5 years worth of stitching. What can I say I cannot resist ebay bargains. Wipocalypse sal is cool. There is also a Turtle trot sal that aims at ufos.
Though before you start budgeting ... you should probably do a mini new job/stash enhancement celebration. So that you won't run out in the new year.

I'm so glad you've settled into your new job so well :)
I would LOVE to join a stitch from stash group. I'm keeping my costs low in my final year at Uni before I go out into the big wide world, so anything that can save me money is fab! I think a group would be a great motivator to stick with it :) You could even organise stash swaps within the group, so we all trade charts or something :)
Best wishes.

Congrats on the new job! Glad you like it... I too need to have a year or two (or maybe three) of Stitching from Stash! I have more that I will ever stitch in my lifetime and need to stop buying more so if you organize it I am sure stitcher's will come!

It's so great for you to have found this job and to like it.
Stitching from stash is what I will be doing next year as well. At least I'll try, lol. I have prepared some BAPs, older charts, which will keep me busy for more than one year.If you open a group I'll join. Good idea.

Congrats on the new job! I always find it exciting to try something new (even if the pay is less...).

The Wagon on Yuku is a great place for stash only stitching support. :) http://thewagon.yuku.com/
